We went on a day hike this weekend. As usual, Pepper carried a fern around with her the entire time. She is a bit obsessed with what she calls "curly ferns". As we passed people (a lot of them on horseback) on the trail she got a lot of comments like "nice fern". She was absolutely thrilled and said "Mom, they love ferns too!". It was a beautiful hike (the pictures really don't do it justice) and perfect for kids... it went up, but gradually.
Right away Pepper noticed the ferns on the trees. Tabor saw a "little tiny tree" on top of an old rotting tree. From then on we pointed out whenever we saw trees with something growing on them.
