We went on a little path across from our house to make discoveries. Today the interest was on mushrooms. I have been on this path hundreds of times but have never taken the time to stop and look at the mushrooms. They are beautiful, in their own little way. I told the kids they were in the Fungi group, but unfortunately I didn't have much more information to offer. I have researched more about it tonight and plan to go back tomorrow (it is just across the street) to identify the cap, gills, ring, stem & volva. I am working on teaching my kids to observe nature without disturbing it, not quite there yet :)
